Car Masters: Rust to Riches, Netflix series of 2 seasons of 8 episodes (2018), this is a series that is a bit unusual in the sense that they do not do repairs to sell cars, but to exchange them for models that will sell for more expensive once restored and so on.
They may restore a car just to trade it in for a shiny engine, but they also occasionally make special orders for certain customers.
This series, like others of the same kind are contested by a certain public which doubts the existence of such a garage which employs some stars of the showbiz, and who think that Netflix fixes reality a little to make it more catchy, but I will not go into these television considerations.

With:

  • The director : Mark Towle
  • The deputy director : Shawn Pilot (Poker player and actor)
  • The Creative : Tony Quinones
  • The Motorist : Constance Nunes (Top Model)
  • The caveman : Mike “Caveman” Pyle

Today we’ll talk about Frank’N’Bus, a Volkswagen combi.

Originally, Mark and Shawn traded in a Firefighter Hot-Rod for a rusty 1978 suit, a Honda Goldwing, a V8 engine and an old pickup.

After bringing it all back to the Gotham Garage, Mark immediately had the absurd idea of turning him into some kind of monster in 6 wheels.

This is what will happen during the show

The Volkswagen combi is laid bare, then cut, elongate, welded.

A first engine that was lying in the garage is installed by Constance Nunes

A special chassis for 6 wheels will be built and adapted for the occasion.

A second rear axle is installed on the chassis which is put in place, big wheels are mounted, they redo a new cutout for the wheel arches.

The jumpsuit will remain naked, unpainted with a low roof. It will contain 6 Seating places.

The team will realize that the engine was too ugly and too weak and that a new one would be needed.. The Honda Goldwing will be customized in Steampunk for an exchange for a boat dragster engine of 1500 horses. Mark will bring in a specialist in this type of engine to work with Constance who seems to have some shortcomings, the power will finally be reduced to 700hp for the combi. The old engine will eventually be dismantled and the new one will be placed back in the center of the machine. The hood will be a motorized 'butterfly' side door.

All you have to do is install the final touches to complete the monster.

A crazy video will then be produced

Mark wanted more 100.000$ and finally it will be left to 73.000$ to 2 drag collectors. It seems to me that about 30.000$ have been invested in the combi, and a good number of hours of work for a result that disappoints me a bit anyway ...
