So much for some explanation of the original car. And here we are in front of a Diplomat Adler 8 wheel 1935.
4 steerable wheels on the front, 4 in back, The redesigned wings and the bumper also. It should be noted that originally the front door opened the other way, to the & rsquo; back then, and that & rsquo; it was added a small side window in front of the door to form a panoramic windscreen !
C & rsquo; is a Berlin engineer named Auto Gotthardt Rimmek that made this transformation 1935.
He remained in siemensstadt and wrote an article 4 pages on the automobile suspension
a German academic journal 1935, magazine which was not traced.
It is fashionable to recall here that the roads d & rsquo; formerly were rarely paved and 8 wheels could bring some comfort and better handling.

Thank you for featuring an Adler. This now forgotten make was a pioneer in many ways (stream lining, front wheel drive, gear shift on the steering column, far advanced 2-stroke motorcycles in the 1950´s – copied by Ariel, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki and others, etc). The factory was totally destroyed during a massive air raid on Frankfurt in the summer of 1944, painstakingly rebuilt after the war, only to fall victim to strange, political anti 2-stroke elements in the Bundestag. A sad ending to a great marque.
Thank you to you for this valuable information
