Eight-Wheeler Investigator car – 1973

The Investigator is a half-hour pilot film designed and directed by Gerry Anderson in 1973.
The film takes up the theme of "The Secret Service" consisting of combining normal-sized actors with Supermarionation-sized puppets 1/3. It was filmed in Malta, following a small production from Gerry Anderson’s The Protectors action team. It showcases the vocal talents of Peter Dyneley (Jeff Tracy) as The Investigator, Shane Rimmer (Scott Tracy) as John and Sylvia Anderson (Lady Penelope) as Julie.

This film is a tangle of fast scenes, without explanation, without apparent scenario and lets appear humans sometimes, sometimes animals, and the two puppets of John and Julie.

The red car suddenly appears in the middle of the beach, it allows John and Julie to move on the beach then in a city. She looks like DS to 8 wheels, the 4 front wheels are steered, it is equipped with 2 spare wheels on the rear hood, and she has no door !
It was created by Reg Hill and does not correspond at all with the standards of other films like the Thunderbirds.

The car 8 wheels is radio controlled and can run at 50km / h… During filming, it is said that there was huge interference during the shooting and that the piloting was very complicated, so much so that at one point the racing car ran straight towards the film crew and everyone deserted for fear ! Gerry Anderson said the car has gone mad.

So much for the little story of this funny car that I took for a pedal car. We have no news of his existence. Feel free to leave us a comment if you know more about this 8 wheels.

Apparently there were weapons planned in the front… We will never see them 🙁
