TAZI People Mover – Horlacher AG 1997
Horlacher's TAZI model is the prototype of a new concept of a particularly energy-efficient vehicle.
TAZI is intended for the public transport of people or goods over large areas and in slow motion from 8 to 12 km / h only. TAZI is modular, each cabin is equipped with 2 wheels (or 3 ?) and it is possible to join up to 7 cabins and carry 40 people at the same time.
TAZI is an electric vehicle, but history does not say if each cabin is equipped with engines and batteries or if it is for example only the first cabin which is equipped with it. Same for driving, is it automatic or with a pilot, and can each cabin be used as a cockpit ? On the photos, the first cabin is equipped with 3 wheels, we do not distinguish for others.

The aim of Horlacher AG in this project was to create the largest usable space possible in a small area.
Another remarkable feature of the concept is the maneuverability of this “train” of several units and the absolute directional stability of the individual wagons in relation to the train cabin, so even narrow passages can be negotiated without any problems. The TAZI's turning circle is 8 meters.
Patent pending. The TAZI project is supported by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (OVEN).
A TAZI rolling prototype was created by Horlacher AG and it is still in operation at the Cité de l'Automobile in Mulhouse, which houses the car collection of the Schlumpf brothers.
For lazy visitors or for the disabled, the excursion in “train” TAZI allows you to travel in aisles of the Museum, from where you can comfortably take a look at the exhibitions and listen to the guide's conference. Some say that this visit is a bit quick and leaves little time to appreciate the different models in the collection.
The museum exhibition is really very large, it can be divided into three parts, the first for sports cars, the second, the largest hall is reserved for the main collection of cars, the third is reserved for luxury cars.
TAZI can be used in all public installations such as living rooms, airports, amusement parks or even hospital facilities.
