Toyota Vios at 8 star wheels – Roni Gunawan 2018
This Toyota Vios at 8 wheels is the work of Roni Gunawan, boss of the taxi company Gemah Ripah i based in Bandung, Bali in Indonesia.
But who is Roni ?
Roni is a mechanic gifted with his hands and full of wacky ideas, he wanted a Toyota Vios with 2 front welded together in the middle. It was his first wacky success. After that, so he had left 2 rear of Toyota Vios, and he started to think about what he could do with it.
The 8 wheels was created in several stages. He first recovered a 3rd Toyota Vios on which he modified the chassis to make it a 6 wheels by adding one of the remaining rear axles, then following his initial idea, he installed the last high train, straddling the 4 rear wheels.
Training ?
The drive of this free axle is by friction of the tires on the middle axle. Originally the Toyota Vios (equivalent of the Yaris with a rear trunk) is front wheel drive, so the 6 rear wheels are free and the wheels at heights turn upside down compared to the others !
This wheel set is equipped with a return spring which pulls the wheel down allowing it to remain stuck to the driving tire, however there is no braking system, the disc has not yet been deleted.
Roni & been forced to completely reshape the bodywork around this set of wheels. Rear seat and rear doors have been removed. The front doors have been fitted with elytra.
