Truck Tracked St Chamon mle 1924
Lieutenant Colonel Rimailho to create this caterpillar truck to support future French heavy artillery in opposition to what he was doing at the time, ie a towed artillery. With its engine 80 hp front overhang, it reduces the length of the tracks, which allows better maneuverability swingably by pitching. He reaches 19 km / h on his bandages, and 8 km / h Crawler, yet it weighs 8500 kg empty and can carry 2500 kg and bandages 5000 kg Crawler. It can easily carry a gun 75 mm arranged such that shoots with possible. Unfortunately this mixed system wheels / caterpillar, even later with a hydraulic lift assist wheels will not be widely used. It was built in that 2 copies. (Thank you for the scans to Buggyfamily2 09/01/2007)
The lifting was done “by hand”, Mechanically still, with a jack and took about ten minutes…
