The Skink – Dune Buggy 6 wheels – 1970

Share Button

It’s a Dune Buggy ATV built for Wankel Power
by Justin L. Dantzler, Clark Valentine and John A. Vernon at Santa Monica beach in 1970.

It is said to be a scale model 1, nothing about its engine.
It was named The Skink after the little prairie lizard (see below) which could have indicated the future destiny of this dune buggy at 6 wheels.
The pilot compartment is fully closed.
The wheelbase is 76 inch), and it can be configured in two, four or six wheel drive.

Scincidae are a family of lizards called skinks (Skink) or blue tongue lizards.
It’s the largest family in the Sauria, and the second largest within the Squamata, after that of the Colubridae.
Length : from 35 to 50 cm.

When does someone take over the project ???

  1. Good evening,

    Nothing on the engine ?
It could be a rotary engine, since it's built for Wankel Power.

  2. very nice buggy but on what basis there is a front train of vw I believe and can be a vw syncro transmission modified to make 2 or 4 or 6 driving wheels.
on the other hand where are the doors?
