Oldsmobile Toronado GT six-wheeler – 1971
You won't see a lot of six-wheeled Oldsmobile Toronado in the showrooms. This, was assembled by a Saskatchewan trailer lover (Western Canada Province), it cost him 3 200 $ for a model of 1970 use, plus 4 600 $ for additional wheels, an axle, petrol tanks from 70 gallons (265 liters !) in the trunk and re-camber. According to the owner, the vehicle fits perfectly, is aerodynamic and the extra half ton did not affect fuel consumption (considering the new tank…). The trailer hitch is mounted on a frame and passes through the boot of the car. It should be noted that this model is front-wheel drive and that it is quite simple to add a free axle to the rear.
On the 25433 Toronado construites in 1970, alone 5341 were Toronado GT models.
Oldsmobile Toronado GT Type W34 with an engine 455 CID V8 400hp 1970, were recognizable thanks to their double exhaust with a notched rear bumper and a metallic metallic paint in nugget with black stripes in the wheel arch and the badge of the GT hood.
The maximum speed was 135 mph (220 km/h).
On an American site, I found a comment about this Toronado 6 wheels.
A guy bought it to get the engine there 455 V8 to put it in his Oldsmobile Cutlass from 1971. He then deposited the empty case in a Calgary scrap yard (Canada), where it was later stolen ! This is the man who took the pictures under the snow.
