The Story of true FAB 1 (second part)
The second part of the article is long overdue… From what I had read, Gerry Anderson had built a second FAB 1. I also found that the other FAB had been built around a Rolls Royce Silver Spirit. What actually disappointments !
In reality, a second FAB 1 has been built, but its history is much less fabulous than the first… And Gerry Anderson has nothing to do !
This new FAB 1 exists thanks to a passionate Thunderbirds, Melvin Jarvis. It is 39 years he had this idea to built a FAB 1 from the model he had Dinky Toys… It was a childhood dream that driving once famously Rolls Royce pink 6 Wheel Lady Penelope ! There was air conditioning engineer, he spent a year designing his project and made a few years to build itself.
I contacted this remarkable man, but I don '(have unfortunately been no return on his part to some questions I asked him.
He designed the FAB 1 Around a Jaguar 420G.de 1970 of 4235cc. He has published the contents of the original gray card, as No. YEA468H for those interested…
Here within the FAB 1 we find the central controls and the steering wheel of the Jaguar 420. Notice that everything has been redesigned.
And here is the Jaguar 420 d & rsquo; origin.
Melvin thus reconstructed a double train to the front of the car, kept in the 4 doors and completely changed the Jaguar to look like the FAB 1. However, he retained the Living and rounded roof the 420 into a bubble sort.
It has of course installed a Rolls Royce grille that is able to bend down to reveal a missile. The story does not say if Rolls Royce is aware of this model, it gave its authorization for the use of the grille. Maybe one day Melvin answer my call…
Once the FOB 1 was completed, Melvin wondered about the fate of his beautiful car that was sleeping in the garage of the bottom. That's when he decided to rent a car for any occasion.
He made a website where you can order a book.

You will find some thumbnails of the construction of the FAB 1.
So much for this little history, I have really enjoyed discussing with its author, because apparently, Gerry Anderson came to visit this car. It remains only a few photos in this, but no testimony.
There is still one last thing, a bit macabre, this FAB 1 was present at the funeral of Gerry Anderson.
Gerry Anderson…
cool , I reserve for our next trip to Epernay lol…
