Jaguar XJS 100+
For the little story, the 31/12/2005, I published a small picture of a funny oto6 Jaguar…
The tools of looking for images 2005 were non-existent and I had put almost a year before finding a larger image of this funny Jaguar.
Now, end 2014 to precise, I walk on a website and I found a new, more explicit photo.
With the current tools, more problems to find his story and more photos. C'est la Jaguar XJS 100+ !
100+ International is a brand wheels, apparently disappeared, and in the manner of Wolfrace, 100+ has decided to build a car in 6 wheels to promote its brand worldwide, just like Sonic.
La Wolfrace Sonic, advertising built around car wheels !
As much Wolfrace built a completely original car, as much 100+ started from an existing model in October 1978, start date of the project, Jaguar XJS la.
To return to Christian Leotard who built his first cars “for show”, 100+ to built therein for “attract women like flies” !
For it, they are party 2 Jaguar XJS, a welded back to full, the addition becoming a dumpster and sedan becoming a pickup. A luxury pickup, with a padded bucket, you will find housing inside with a mini bar !
The 100+ Interstate rims 1 and 2
Originally, the steering wheel rim was built in gold 22 carats, but I guess removed, we do not see the pictures… The interior consisted of velvet, including the headliner.
The original engine was too low to their taste and installed a Chevrolet engine 454, supercharged by 2 turbos and developing 700 hp 7000 tr / m… La XJS 100+ was given to achieve the 187 mph, is 301 km/h !
A Chevrolet engine 454 is about 7.4 liters, the power ratio is therefore about 94 ch/litre, is close 100 ch/litre… This is particularly because the motor is a Chevrolet Big-block the early years 70, So a big cast iron engine with two valves per cylindre.Hors there are not many aspirated engine 2 valves per cylinder approaching this volume efficiency…
In this Corvette engine was given to 365 ch 1971, and again it is power according to the SAE standard. Wholesale able to SAE, the engine does not lead accessories (water pump, alternator, oil pump, fan,…) which gives a very optimistic value when you consider that these items absorb a significant share of power.
Some references for comparing the power ratios :
BMW 323i E21 : 143 ch => 62 ch/litre
Alfa GTV6 2.5 : 160 ch => 64 ch/litre
205 GTi 1.9 : 130 ch => 68 ch/litre
Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 235 ch => 73 ch/litre
205 Rallye 1.3 103 ch => 79 ch/litre
That said, For the experts, the car was equipped with turbos 400 AMG, heads (valves ?) Doug Thorley and pistons and connecting rods Triffo…
An article appeared in the magazine Street Machine May 1980, with a beautiful blonde in suspenders.
The car was presented to Manchester Hitachi Rod & Custom Show en mai 1980
A photo from another article in Street Machine
Some other pictures
Commercial wafer 100+
2 brand new photos of the car :
And then there is a photo, I personally think this is a fake, by magnifying the image, welding do not seem to be correct with the back piece, and the front does not seem to be at Jaguar. The story does not say if it comes to that model or another, who knows, perhaps another article on Sixmania one day ?!
But where is this car now ?
Please tell me if you know… marc@sixmania.fr
EXCELLENT REPORTAGE.
THANKS FOR THESE nostalgic HOMECOMING.
“That said, For the experts, the car was equipped with turbos 400 AMG, heads (valves ?) Doug Thorley and Triffo pistons and conrods…”
This is an incorrect translation from English. The Doug Horley Company Manufactures Exhaust Manifolds (headers in english) ; eventually, they may have been making cylinder heads at the time (cylinder heads, Or just “heads” in English).
The BBC (Big Block Chevy) 454 (later called Vortec 7400) has been installed on cars as well as on pick-ups / SUVs and trucks ; it was only replaced by 2001 by the Vortec 8100 (8.1L V8 with the same architecture)
I have to find a moment to correct this, thank you again for your knowledge Olivier !
