Hispano-Suiza, on the order of a European monarchs of the time (probably George II, King of Greece 1922-1923) , Barcelona built by Henry Binder, a project to 6 wheels on a basis of Hispano-Suiza H6 (Rolls Royce dubbed the French), which was completely abandoned due to the fact that he could not pay the bill because it was no longer king at the end of construction. Later this automobile was bought by D.W. Griffith, the director of a Hollywood motion picture studios 35 000 dollars. She appeared in the film 1933 "My Lips Betray" and in war movies. If you happened to come across it in a movie, please leave me a comment or an email to marc@sixmania.fr

I received an email this morning about this, I'll give it to you translated :

By reading your website, I saw the article on the Hispano-Suiza H6A 6 wheels, a car that my grandfather worked on making the decorations and wooden panels. I never met my grandfather. He was a cabinetmaker and carpenter in Barcelona. I read that you were looking for information on the car and I have some memories regarding conversations with my father talking about his father and some events regarding the construction of the Hispano-Suiza 6 wheels.

My grandfather carved his name behind the wooden decorations and signs. I don't know if he put his full name or just his last name. His name was Manuel Solé. I contacted the Forney Museum in Denver, Colorado and they told me the car was restored because it was in bad shape, including wooden decorations.

My father told me that my grandfather had said that originally, the car had been built for the king of Greece, Constantine Ier (contrary to the belief that it was for George II) ; however, due to political events in this country, he never got it. Finally, the car was sold to D. W. Griffith through a Barcelona dealer who had contacts in the United States.

Another anecdote that my father told me is that the construction of the car began in La Sagrera (Barcelona) and was completed elsewhere (I do not know where). I don't remember if it was because of labor issues or lack of space. If you can help us understand better…
