The Arctrek is an all-terrain vehicle 6 x 6 single amphibian, which can really go almost anywhere. It is ideal for expeditions, corporate entertainment, tourist rides, the film industry, a disaster relief vehicle or simply being the only person in the world in a one-of-a-kind family camper … this is what its creator wanted to do. Unfortunately, he failed in his project for lack of financial means. I had recovered documents at the time of its auction, there was also a website, but nothing exists, hop to oblivion, I don't even know the name of the creator. Damage to a beautiful craft, where is the Arctrek today ?
In the following description, you will find current and future specifications, the Arctrek never having been completed ...
Dimensions: 8,70m long, 2,35m wide, 2,90m high (suitable for a container 40 High Cube feet), 3000 kg tel that, 4000 kg equipped, 7500 kg of Total Weight, designed to be driven with a car license.
The engine is a Toyota Landcruiser 4200cc Turbo diesel (mechanical injection, very fuel efficient and most reliable undercarriage on the planet, can receive coins anywhere in the world), manual gearbox 5 Hi-Lo speeds and range, modified to provide rear propulsion PTO in the 5 forward and reverse gears as well as wheels turning or not turning).
Toyota Landcruiser differential locks, 6 disc brakes, transmission brake. Unlike DUKW vehicles and other amphibious trucks that have complete axles in the water, the undercarriage is fully inboard with only independent drive shafts and struts in the water (provides a smoother bottom for better speed and less undercarriage wetting). Its maximum speed will be 112 km / h on land and 6 nodes in water (11 km/h).
At the rear there is a large bronze propeller 4 blades that can either be submerged in water or be raised in the hull via a hydraulic actuator and a water level sensor for automated safety when going up and down in the water. It is oriented laterally via the power steering of the Arctrek.
Special deflectors allow water to reach the rear support when the wheels touch the bottom allowing propulsion in very shallow conditions.
Normal driving is at the front of the Arctrek, but there will be the possibility of piloting it from the upper deck on the water via an access by an internal ladder to the yacht. There will be a rear bath deck. The upper deck will have a seating area. It will also be equipped with a winch / anchor of 20000 lb front in the nose.
The body is made of aluminum; the roof is a combination of Laminated Polyester and aluminum. The shell is made of high strength steel of 2 mm hot dip galvanized. All welds are on the outside to avoid hull distortion.
So far it has cost more than half a million dollars in labor and thousands of dollars spent on R&D and name and form patents.
